Leonard Cohen今年5月23日在加拿大蒙克顿举办了一场演唱会，他的歌迷把演唱会制作成mp3并上传到网上，虽然我们去不到欧洲看他的音乐会（今年6月份-8月底他将在欧洲很多国家举办巡回演唱会），但能听到他最近的演唱会mp3也是一件幸事吧。

Leonard Cohen in Moncton: a perfect show!
Friday, May 23, 2008, Capitol Theatre, Moncton, NB: I saw a performance of Leonard Cohen! When I received a gift from my sister my first compact disc player that there are several more years, the first thing I did was to buy my first album of Leonard Cohen: its great success. It took me a few weeks before I make additional purchases of CDs, so you can imagine how I knew by heart the great success of Cohen! At that time, I never would have imagined that this great man, one of my favorite artists, come sing with me one day!
But it happened. And what was this evening! I have always said that I tend to save a little too much and to be over-enthusiastic, but then I do not exaggerate, it was the best performance of my life. Even the two shows Chris de Burgh I have seen do not fight this evening Cohen. What man! What artist! What generosity!
Why I loved this show?
1 - He started his show in french. And several times during the evening, he is recited his poems in french, translated some bits of texts of his songs in french or had simply addressed the crowd in french. It is is quite impressive.
2 - He sang almost all its great success. Awesome. He did not merely give only his most recent songs, like many major stars are when they are on tour. Cohen, however, gave us the gift of most of his best songs: Take this waltz, Suzanne, So Long Marianne, Who by fire, Hallelujah, First we take Manhattan, I'm your man, Is not no cure for love, Bird on a wire, Everybody knows ...
3 - He sang for nearly three hours. He made 8 or 9 songs rappelling. He showed no sign of fatigue despite his 74 years. He had so much energy and beautiful smiles at the end than the beginning of the show.
4 - It is generous. How many times during the evening we have presented the nine musicians who accompanied him? At least three times he presented the entire group, taking the time to talk about each and throughout the evening, when a musician or vocalist was a solo, he or presented! And whenever a member of its technical team progressed to the stage to change his guitar or move his keyboard, thanking him sincerely.
5 - He has a unique voice, always as beautiful for over 40 years of stage, and he wrote texts and melodies as few people can do it. He is one of our greatest poets.
6 - The theater of the Capitol Theatre is magnificent. The sound that night was really perfect. We could understand without making any effort all the words of Leonard Cohen. The musicians were excellent and it does not tired of watching them play their instruments. What talent! That experience on stage!
7 - Leonard Cohen had the air all happy to give a spectacle that we were to see it. We love his songs and it is obvious that he loves, even after so many years. He lives in depth each of songs he interpreter. You can almost smell what he felt when he put on paper for the first time each of words.
Is it that I've convinced it was indeed the best performance of my life? Otherwise, I would not know what to say more. Ah yes, even before he starts his show, he enjoyed a long standing ovation, and the same thing happened a dozen times during the evening! Minimum 12 times. Unheard of! What have I done all the rest of the weekend? I listened to CDs Leonard Cohen.
